Thinking About Stopping Therapy?

Lucidity Health Offers Alternatives Subscription and Therapy Billing Overview

Hormone optimization, whether it's testosterone therapy or another treatment, is a long-term investment in your health. If you're considering pausing or stopping, we want you to have the full picture before you decide. This isn't about talking you out of anything. It's about making sure you have the information to make the choice that's actually right for you.

Common reasons and what we can do

Cost. We work to keep pricing accessible, and we're proud to be one of the more affordable clinics of our kind in Oregon. We've also been able to work with patients directly on pricing when finances get tight.

Scheduling. Dosing frequency and appointment cadence can often be adjusted to fit a busy or changing schedule.

Not a fan of injections. Injections aren't the only option. Other routes of administration may be a better fit, and we're happy to talk through the tradeoffs.

Moving out of the area. Telehealth can often keep your care going without interruption, and when it can't, we'll help you find a trusted provider so there's no gap in monitoring.

A primary care provider has offered to take over. This is worth pausing on. Testosterone therapy in particular works best with regular lab monitoring and dose adjustments from a provider who manages it routinely, since results can shift over time and need fine-tuning. We've seen cases where labs come back well outside the expected range and a primary care practice isn't positioned to manage that day to day. The usual result is that therapy gets paused and the patient is referred out to a specialist, which can mean weeks or months without treatment while a new plan gets sorted out. We also build supporting therapies into our protocols, like HCG to help preserve testicular function, that aren't always part of a standard primary care approach. None of this means primary care can't be part of your care team. It just means hormone therapy specifically benefits from consistent, dedicated monitoring.

Not seeing the results you hoped for. This is one of the most important reasons to talk to us rather than stop on your own. Hormone therapy is often just the first layer of a bigger picture. When goals aren't being met, the next places to look are usually metabolic health, thyroid function, iron levels, and inflammation. There's frequently more going on, and more we can do, before concluding that a therapy isn't working.

What we've noticed over time

Patients who leave to try a different path, whether that's a different clinic, a primary care provider, or stopping altogether, often come back within a year. Usually it's after finding that the alternative came with less monitoring, less consistency, or complications they weren't expecting. We'd rather help you avoid that detour in the first place, which is exactly why we encourage a conversation before a decision.

Health takes time, and it's worth doing right

We believe quality of care and transparency matter more than being the cheapest option, though we're proud to also be genuinely accessible on price. Hormone optimization is a real investment of time, attention, and yes, money. We think it's worth investing in well.
